Calfmarking

The tundra
End of august - Mid September
This is one of the biggest events in Sami culture, and one of our favorite times.
At this time our herd is mixed with several other herds, and we will all work together to have thousands of reindeers pass through a fence.
During this time we will give all the new calves their traditional earmarks, and every animal will also be checked and vaccinated.
This is a special time where we spend everyday with the animals, while also being surrounded in beautiful nature.
There will be time to explore the special nature around.
Our campsite is next to a river filled with arctic char.
What to expect?
Experience one of the biggest highlights in Sami culture far away from civilization.
Get a unique look into a reindeer herder´s life, and you get to try and be one yourself!
You will see breathtaking scenery as we make our way through the tundra to where the reindeers live, and our campsite will be.
We will travel there with ATVs, and at certain times it's possible to book helicopter to take you there.
It is also possible to hike.
Camps are spacious tents with heating, beds, cooking facilites and powestation to charge your phones etc.
Dinners together with us, and we will serve local food, and meat from our own reindeers.
