Where the Herd Leads
The move across the Arctic tundra

Spring migration in the Arctic mountains
Join one of the last great animal migrations in Europe — not as a tourist, but as part of the herd.
Every spring, the reindeer begin to move. From the inland winter pastures toward the coast, across plateaus, through mountains, through weather. And we move with them. Not because it’s a tradition, but because it’s our life.
Now, for the first time, you can be part of it.
This is the real Sámi spring migration.
Not a performance. Not a tour.
You’ll be driving your own snowmobile, following the herd across Arctic terrain, and stepping fully into the work: feeding, guarding, watching, moving. It’s raw, physical, and deeply real. Something almost no outsiders ever experience.
Each evening, we gather at the fire to eat, to tell stories, and to joik beneath the Arctic sky. We sleep in large traditional tents, you in one, and us in another, side by side in the same camp. The sounds of the reindeer are never far.
This isn’t a polished adventure. It’s something deeper.
A rare invitation into the heart of reindeer herding. A journey that stays with you long after the snow is gone.

Meals & Camp Life
After a day on the tundra, we gather by the fire when the weather allows, or in the tents if the wind picks up. Time to rest, eat, and share stories.
Meals are simple and hearty, cooked over open flames or gas stoves, depending on the conditions. There’s no fixed menu, just food that reflects our life out here.
You might be served:
-
Bidos, a traditional Sámi reindeer stew
-
Smoked reindeer or moose meat
-
Ptarmigan, prepared the way we know best
-
Fresh Arctic char from our own fishing
-
Flatbread, black coffee, and a sweet bite when there’s time
This is gourmet the Arctic way. Made from tradition, shared with the herd nearby, and remembered long after you’ve left the snow behind.

The Dogs Who Live This Life With Us
You’ll notice them right away.
Moving with the herd. Watching the land. Curling up by the fire at night. Our herding dogs are always nearby, quiet, steady companions who live this life just as fully as we do.
They’re shaped by the mountains, the weather, the reindeer. Most were born into this work, and they know the land better than most people ever will. Out here, they don’t wait for instructions. They move with instinct and purpose.
Guests often tell us they didn’t expect to feel so drawn to the dogs, but it happens, every time. Maybe it’s the calm way they move through the day, or the warmth in their eyes after a long ride. Maybe it’s because this isn’t just our life you’re stepping into.
It’s theirs, too.
